Praying the Scriptures for Hope25


Verses and prayers we can pray for others to come to know Hope in Jesus. (click here to PDF download for printing and sharing)

God answers prayer when we pray! As we prepare for Hope25 you may want to use this resource in any way you wish to pray for family, friends, neighbours, workmates – anyone who does not yet know Jesus. There are 7 prayers, each based on the preceding verses of Scripture which can be prayed as often as you like. Please feel free to add your own prayers as well!

1.

1 John 5:14 – And this is the confidence we have in approaching God; that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us

1 Timothy 2:1&3 – I urge you that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people… this is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

(Sample prayer based on these verses)

Heavenly Father, I come before You now, knowing that You want all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. I pray for the salvation of (name/s), in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Luke 11: 9 & 10 – So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Mark 11:24 – Therefore I tell you that whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours.

Thank You, Father for Your promises that those who ask will receive, those who seek will find, and to those who knock the door will be opened. Please guide me in my prayers during this time as I pray for the salvation of (name/s), in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

John 6:44 – No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.

Matthew 11:27 – No one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.

John16:13a – When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. 

Gracious Father, in accordance with Your Word I pray that You would please draw (name/s) to Jesus. Lord Jesus, I ask that as he/she comes to You that You would reveal the Father to him/her. Thank you for the gift of Your Holy Spirit who will guide (name/s) into the truth of who You are, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Romans 5:8 – God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Ephesians 3:16-19 – From Paul’s letter to the Ephesians 

I pray that out of God’s glorious riches He may strengthen (name/s) in his/her/their inner being, so that Christ may dwell in his/her/their heart by faith. I pray that he/she/they, being rooted and established in love may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that he/she/they may be filled to the measure of all the fulness of God.

Colossians 1:13 – God has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the Kingdom of His beloved Son, 

Acts 26:18 … to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

Loving Father, thank You for rescuing me from the power of darkness, and transferring me into the Kingdom of Your Son. I pray that You would also rescue (name/s) from the domain of darkness and transfer him/ her into the Kingdom of Your Son. Please open (name/’s) eyes and turn him/her from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so he/she may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in You, in Jesus’ Name I pray.

Mark 9: 22b-24 – If you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us. “If you can?” echoed Jesus. “All things are possible to him who believes!”  Immediately the boy’s father cried out, “I do believe, help my unbelief!” 

Loving Father, thank you for Your compassion towards those who struggle to believe. I ask that You help (name/s) to turn from unbelief to faith in You, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Mark 11:22-24 – “Have faith in God,” Jesus said to them. “Truly I tell you that if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and has no doubts in their heart but believes that it will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you that whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours,”.

Lord God, as I pray for today, I thank You believing that all things are possible for You. I ask you to remove any barriers that would stop (name/s) from coming to know You, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
